Update from Mr Perkins

Dear Parents & Carers,

Hello everyone!  As we move into Spring officially this week, we can look forward to brighter, warmer days after such a dark, horrible winter!  It's been lovely to see how much the children have enjoyed the last two special event days.  Last Fridays, TT Rockstar launch was an incredible success and the children are keen to improve their score and achieve 'legend' status!  Yesterday, the world of books came to life with a variety of characters around school for World Book Day - another resounding succcess!  Both events are amazing and help us to promote a love of reading and times tables.

The new school library opened yesterday with all the children spending part of their day in the library looking at the books and which books they will be able to take home.  School books do cost a lot of money so can I plea that they are looked after otherwise we have to issue a fine so that we can keep our school stock high.  Thank you for your help with this.

Our Tangled Web performance took place this week to support our Key Stage 2 children with staying safe online.  The performance supports the workshops that the children had before half term.  Last week, I sent out some information about how you can keep your children safe on apps they may have.  Please keep an eye on your child's setting as they can change with updates.

Next week, we will be holding our new annual 'Author Arts Week' where we bring English and Art together using one text across the school.  This year, our week will be based around a book called 'Pansy Boy' by Paul Harfleet. Throughout the week, we will have various artists working with the children on different aspects of art, Altru Drama working with some children on a drama based on the book and the author Paul Harfleet will hold a live online workshop with our Year 6 children next Friday.  Hopefully, throughout the week, you will be able to see the results of the activities on our Facebook / Twitter page.

Lots of exciting activities for our children to enjoy!  Have a fantastic weekend.

A big thankyou to all of those who supported our TTRockstars relaunch by collecting sponsorship money, which will be used to fund Maths resources to aid in our mastery approach in the subject. We have raised a whopping £274! A special mention must be given to Nicole in Year 6, who raised a magnificent £105 on her own. What a true rock god she is.
