Dear Parents & Carers,

Update from Mr Perkins

We have arrived at half term!  How quickly the murky month of May has passed and hopefully summer will return in June and we can spend some quality time in the sunshine.  You should have received a separate letter today which explains our plan for the remainder of the summer term.  There is a lot of information on this so please take some time to read it.  If you have any questions, please let me know after half term.

As you may know, we held a competition in school for the local Miners Association where the children had to design a banner which represented the community of Willow Tree.  We had several entries from across school.  The winning entry was chosen by the Miners Association.  I am really pleased to announce that Rosalie Carroll won the overall competition and her winning entry has been made into the banner.  Last Friday, under rainy gloomy skies, Rosalie was presented with her winning medal and the banner was displayed during a ceremony on Sunday.

A few other entries which did not quite make the winners selection, but were excellent entries also received a special medal for their work and commitment to the competition.  On behalf of the miners and school, I wish to offer my congratulations to Rosalie and the other runner up entries.  A few pictures are included in our newsletter this week for you to have a look.

As always with school, there can be some sad news to share with you.  Mrs Lawrenson, who has been at Willow Tree for a long time, will be leaving for pastures new in September.  She will be a sad loss to Willow Tree, but I am sure you'll join me in wishing her well for the future.  Once I have confirmed the staffing structure for September, I will be writing to you to let you know.

I will update you about the Obstacle course after half term!

I have heard that the holiday should allow us to get outside, spend some quality time with friends and family and a chance to relax.  Have a lovely half term break.  School will reopen on Monday 7th June at your child's usual staggered start times.
