Willow Tree Nursery Class Newsletter
6th December 2019
This week we have been reading Peace At least. We have had such fun waking up Mr Bear with all of our noises. The children are becoming super at naming and describing sounds. It is lovely to see their vocabulary blossoming.
They have shown off their love of experimentation during play by finding new ways to produce sounds. They have been very inventive! At one point we were treated to The Rubber Brick Band’s version of Jingle Bells which was quite possibly the jolliest and loudest Jingle Bells I’ve ever heard!
We have had an amazing time playing on a range of musical instruments. We’ve had some fantastic visitors from a local High School in playing the piano, electric guitar and violin for us and who allowed the children to play with them. One of our parents, Mr Freya’s Daddy, also volunteered [ahem ] to play the piano and wowed everyone with his talent. Thank you Mr Freya’s Daddy!
To give your £1 per week (£6 per half term) snack money into the office please.
Water only in bottles please. It’s better for teeth and doesn’t become sticky and attract insects when spilt.
Also please provide your Child with a change of clothes labelled clearly in a bag on their peg. Children learn best when they are physically comfortable.
If you haven’t provided your child with a pair of wellington boots please do so asap. The boots make sure your child is able to explore comfortably and safely regardless of the weather, includes them in the routine of getting ready for outdoors independently, and ensures the learning indoor environment stays in good condition for the children.

The Christmas Performance
We have been busy practicing ready to delight you all with our Christmas extravaganza. We don’t like to put any additional cost or stress on you at this time of year so all the children need to wear is a Christmas jumper, or something in a festive colour that we can pop a bit on tinsel on. Mrs Moulsdale and I have made the rest (those of you with art/ design degrees avert your eyes).
This week’s home task.
Following our focus sound this week’s home task is to see if your child can describe sounds to you. For example, if you hear a fire engine, or when you are running the bath. Do they know what the sound is? Where is it coming from? Is the sound loud/quiet/high/low/fast slow? Can they make the sound? On Monday we will talk about some of the sounds you heard during the weekend. Have fun!
