Reception 2019 - 2020
In Reception children learn together in an environment which is developed around their interests. We pride ourselves on being an exciting and engaging place to be and encourage our children to be independent learners through a range of practical activities which are planned to scaffold and extend their learning. We plan to follow the children's interests and at the minute dinosaurs are very popular. We are learning to tell the story of the Little Green Dinosaur through actions and drawing our own story maps.
PE will be on a Friday and all children will be required to have their PE kits in school. Children are required to wear a green T-shirt, black shorts and black pumps.
A home task will be set each Friday and your children will be given a homework book. It will sometimes be related to English or Maths or it may be a creative task. Homework is a really important way that you can support your children with their learning.
Your child will be given a reading book. Please fill in the reading record everytime your child reads at home. Books will be changed once a week on either a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
In Reception we have rolling snack, which means the children can access snack at any time in the morning. This helps to develop independence and confidence and is also great for talking with their friends. We provide an image at the snack table for the children to discuss.
We are really looking forward to the year ahead and are already very impressed with how well the children have settled into Reception life.
