Welcome to Year 2R
Teacher: Mrs Reid
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Johns, Miss Foster and Mrs Griffiths
What to expect in Year 2R
PE is on a Tuesday. Please provide full PE kit; green polo shirt, black shorts and pumps are to be kept in school for the duration of the half term. Children can take their kit home at the end of each half term to be washed.
We have fruit and milk daily for our morning snack. Children can bring in 30p a day to pay for a snack from our tuck shop. Alternatively, children may bring in a healthy morning snack of their own (cereal bar, cheese stick etc…) Please ensure that snacks are sent in with your child separately from their lunch box as children do not have access to their lunchboxes in the classroom.
Please ensure that your child has a LABELLED water bottle in school. This can be taken home daily to be washed and refilled. Please note that we do not allow juice or flavoured water in the classrooms, only water.
Homework is set on a Friday and is to be completed by the following Wednesday.
Children will read to an adult once a week and they will also participate in a weekly guided reading session with the class teacher. Please ensure that your child has their book bag in school each day as we often have lots of letters to give out and may wish to hear your child read or change their reading book.
Please check out our class website regularly for updates and to look at the fabulous work and activities your children have been experiencing.
THE CREEPY CRAWLY SHOW!
The Creepy Crawly Show came to school. We had so much fun learning about the different creepy crawlies such as the giant hissing cockroach, tarantula, and Ninja the snake!
HARRY POTTER DRESS UP DAY!
We enjoyed coming dressing up as characters from Harry Potter. Here we are looking fabulous in our amazing costumes.
WATCH OUT! THERE’S A DINOSAUR ABOUT
We couldn’t believe it when a dinosaur turned up during our assembly! We met baby Jack and the gigantic T-Rex Sophie. They were both very friendly and we enjoyed finding out lots of fascinating facts about them.
PARENTS CRAFT MORNING
Our parents joined us to help us create our topic book front covers. We created wonderful dinosaur scenes using collage materials. They look fantastic!
WE ARE PALEONTOLOGISTS!
We became fossil hunters and searched for fossils in the sand. We had to be very careful as we worked. When we found the fossils we had to look at the special posters and fact files to find out more about them. We found dinosaur eggs, claws, skulls and footprints. It was a great learning experience!
