Welcome to Willow

2016-2017

Teacher: Mr Allinson

Teaching Assistants: Mrs Lowery and Miss Williams

In Willow Class children are taught by Mr Allinson (Teacher), Mr Geraghty and Miss Williams (Learning Assistants). Throughout the year the children will build on their independence, gaining responsibilities around the school and challenges designed to show their true potential! They will become aware of their targets and, with support from the grown-ups around them, will work on their targets with enthusiasm and gusto.

They are aware of their own learning goals and with support from teachers and family they work on their goals with enthusiasm and determination!

The children have daily Maths and English lessons and also take part in topic based learning. At the start of each topic they discuss what they already know and what they would like to learn about. They learn in lots of different ways such as exploring artefacts, researching on the internet and going on exciting trips.

Willow classroom is very bright and has lots of information to help the children’s learning. They will also take part in outdoor activities, where the children develop their gross motor skills and team work. They consolidate and extend their learning through accessing areas of continuous provision such as the role play area, the maths area and the reading corner.

Kind Regards,

Mr Allinson, Mr Geraghty and Miss Williams

What a fabulous time we had at Martin Mere. We dipped in to the pond and observed sharp toothed otters eating their breakfast. Mr Allinson’s favourite part was going on the zip wire, but don’t tell Mr Bell he had a go!

Willow hunted for microhabitats and humanely captured live mini beasts to identify.  Our findings included woodlice, ants, worms and ladybirds!

Thank you to all at St Nicholas' Church for welcoming us today.  It was great for the children to see for themselves what we have been learning about in our RE topic of 'What's Inside a Church?'

Chestnut and Willow had a fantastic time at Knowsley Safari Park and they behaved impeccably. The animals we saw included lions, rhinos, camels, wolves, vultures, bats and sea lions and we even got to touch creatures from the Australian rainforest!
