We are learning...

Literacy – We will be writing letters, fables and producing pieces of non-fiction writing relating to minibeasts.

Topic - We will be looking at continents and oceans of the world, and linking this to our developing map skills.

Science -  We will be learning all about animals and their habitats.

Maths – This term in Maths, we are mostly revising for our SATs.

PE -  We will be working on dance in one session and ball skills in our other PE session!

RE – We will be learning about religious buildings.

SPaG – We are working on contractions, using commas in a list, and knowing when to use a question mark or exclamation mark.

Computing – We will be looking at recognising and using technology beyond school.

Challenge: Read at home every night with your parents and get your reading record signed. Can you do it?!

Don’t forget to look out for postcards home to let you know when your child has done exceptionally well at school.

Thank you very much for your support with the ocean dioramas! We have a display up in the Key Stage 1 area and they all look fabulous!

We will be having a SATs party on the last Thursday afternoon - but don't tell anyone...!

PE – Please ensure that PE kits are always kept in school. PE kit is a plain white t-shirt, black shorts and black pumps. PE days are Monday and Wednesday. For outdoor PE, you can also bring your trainers.

Water bottles – Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school, particularly as it comes to the Summer months! A sun hat may also be a good idea!

Homework – Homework will be given out every Friday and should be returned no later than Tuesday the following week.

Spellings – Children will receive a list of spellings every Friday. They will be tested on their spellings each Friday and will then be given a new set to learn.

Snack – Children will have free milk and fruit every morning at playtime or they may wish to occasionally purchase food from the snack shop when available.

Readers – Home readers will be changed regularly. Please ensure that you write a comment in the log each time you read with your child. Children benefit from reading 4-5 times a week with an adult at home, please do this if you can. Your child will also bring home a library book that will be changed once a week. Your child earns points towards a prize every time that they read at home with you when their reading record is signed.

Handy Links

Here are some links for your children to explore at home:

On World Book Day, we had an excellent day. We dressed up in costumes, had a parade in the hall, and participated in the great Teachers vs Pupils book quiz! In the afternoon, Year 4LB came to read to us. We had lots of fun!

We have been learning about plants in Science. In our classroom, we have been planting and growing seeds to observe what happens.

For Easter, we made Easter bonnets at home! We then had an Easter bonnet parade in school, showing off our hats to all of the school! Look at our Easter bonnets: aren't they amazing?

Year 2 enjoyed their visit to Dunham Massey yesterday. We were servants in the morning and went around the mansion in the afternoon. Some other visitors said what a well behaved school we were. Well done, Year 2!
